The Church is Not a Business

The Church should never be marketed like it was something you could sell. A place of worship it should be. A Healing place, a place where you come for restoration, where you kneel at a altar and give your heart to Jesus. A place where you can confess your faults one to another that you be healed.

Devising ways to get people to come to church is not our job. The Holy Spirit will draw them, He can do more than all our human efforts ever thought of doing!

My grandfather was a preacher, he got paid five dollars a week. He owned and operated a 300 acre farm and while he was going about harvesting his crops, milking his cows he would write down on the notepad in his shirt pocket his sermon notes. You think he worried about numbers in his little country church? No, it was a privilege and a honor to just have a congregation that would come and listen to what the Lord gave him to say.

Scott and I work jobs too to be able to have our little church at the edge of the desert. Scott thinks about his sermon all week as he installs phones, commuters at Sky harbor airport and many other airports around the United States. He writes his sermons on a iPad as he flies from city to city to bring them back and deliver them to us. It's taken us some years to Learn to not worry about how many will be there, but to give that care to the Lord.

No the church should never be marketed it should instead be loved and nurtured. He said if I be lifted up I will draw all men into me. Church is not for a show it's not a race to see who can have the biggest attendance or building, it's a place of peace, a place of hope, new life and gladness. A place where people can come and hear those notes gather from their pastor who created a sermon out of them for them to be lifted up, encouraged and set free.

Don't treat your church like a business, besides it's not your business anyway, it's Gods business.
