Coffee Cup Connection

I found this cup at Marshall's yesterday and saw on it one of my favorite Scriptures and knew I wanted it. Took it up to the counter where a lovely Black Lady waited on me. She picked up the cup and just stared at it for at least a couple of minutes. I thought maybe she saw a crack or flaw in it that I hadn't seen, until she looked up. It was then that I saw the tears in her eyes and felt them coming into mine.

She looked straight at me and said, This! This is why the world is in the mess it's in. People have quit seeking God. He has been pushed out of this world and look at the result.

I felt such pain in her heart and recognized it because I have felt that pain as well. She then proceeded to tell me her frustration of trying to understand why folks won't pray. She told me that her Pastor had called a prayer meeting in light of last week's event in Dallas and only five people showed up.

I reached over and took her hand and we both, looking each other straight in the eyes, shared a very special moment of complete unity, of understanding, of Godly love. The racial lines erased, just two people who had the same mindset and equal love for God.

I told her that if others won't pray, we still will, to which she replied with deep feeling, Yes we will! Who knew that a coffee cup could bring such an experience!

The opportunity to be the Light in this dark world is endless. We just have to be ready and willing when that door opens.

It's one thing to say you love, but proof of that love is shown when you physically put that love in action. Always be willing and vulnerable enough to love without measure.

I sought The Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears (Psalm 34:4).
