Brass Shields, Cheap Substitutes
King Rehoboam replaced Solomon's golden shields with vastly inferior ones made of brass after they were stolen, hoping no one would notice. Pentecost seems to be doing the same thing regarding the gospel's purity and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
